Celebrate with us at our action-packed Open Day on Sunday 28 September from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Entry is free and everyone's welcome!

There will be activities for the whole family, from stadium sports and fitness classes to pool activities and more. You’ll also have the chance to meet Aussie swimming legend Emma McKeon and local AFL stars.

Meet Emma McKeon from 10:30am to 12:30pm! Emma is the most successful Olympian in Australian history, with 14 Olympic medals and 20 Commonwealth Games medals.

Live entertainment

Enjoy thrilling performances from stilt walkers, drumming bands, cheerleaders and dancers! Our brand new cafe will also be open, serving delicious food and drinks.

Kid zone

We've got the kids covered with face painting, crafts, games, activities and prizes. There's even a drawing workshop with Cody Weightman, AFL player and artist.

Group fitness classes

Workout in our new-and-improved gym and group fitness rooms, with classes such as boxing, yoga, Zumba and Reformer Pilates on offer throughout the day.

Stadium sports

Pool sessions

  • Watch Around Water policy information
    YMCA Victoria is a Watch Around Water endorsed aquatic safety organisation. Watch Around Water is a set of industry guidelines that outline the minimum supervision requirements of young children at aquatic venues.

    We have followed the Watch Around Policy (outlined below) in our centre since 1 September 2019.

    Children under five years old

    • All children must be accompanied into the centre by a person aged 17 years or older and be supervised within arms’ reach at all times in the water.
    • All children must wear a pink wristband supplied by YMCA staff to help identify their age while swimming.
    • Children will not be admitted without a full fee paying parent/guardian who must also be in the water at all times.
    • Groups will not be admitted entry where the number of parents/guardians supervising a group of children under five years exceeds the ratio of 1:2.

    Children under 12 years old

    • All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied into the centre by a person aged 17 years or older.
    • All children must be actively supervised a person aged 17 years or older at all times. The adult must have a clear and active view of the child with no physical or structural barriers between them (this includes tech and devices
    • such as mobile phones).
    • All children must wear a yellow wristband supplied by YMCA staff to help identify their age while swimming.
    • Groups will not be admitted entry where the number of parents/guardians supervising a group of children under 12 years exceeds the ratio of 1:4.
     

    Birthday parties

    • All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied into the centre by a person aged 17 years or older and handed over to the supervision of the birthday party leader (staff member).
    • All birthday party participants must wear a blue wristband and an age-based wristband (pink or yellow) to identify their participation in a party.
    • The adult guardian of the birthday party child must remain accessible and actively supervise the group at all times.
    • At the conclusion of the birthday party, children will remain in the supervision of the birthday party leader and supervising parent until physically handed over to their supervising parent/guardian.

We're located at 99 Altona St, Kensington (entry opposite JJ Holland Reserve).

  • Walk

    The centre has two entrances. The main entrance is on the Altona Street service lane. Members with wristband access can also use the members’ entrance on Kensington Road.

    Both entrances are easy to reach on foot, and the main entrance can also be accessed via JJ Holland Park. 

    The entrances are fully accessible for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and prams.

  • Bike

    There are several bike riding routes on local streets near the centre such as Kensington Road, Altona Street, Tennyson Street and Ormond Street.

    The centre offers on-street bike hoops located at the main entrance on the Altona Street service lane and at members’ entrance on Kensington Road.

    There are no e-bike charging stations.

  • E-scooter

    Your e-scooter can be locked to the bike hoops which are located outside the main entrance on the Altona Street service lane and outside the members’ entrance on Kensington Road. If none are available, please park it in an upright position on the kerb leaving at least 1.5 metres from the building, ensuring the footpath is clear. 

    There are no e-scooter charging stations.

  • Bus

    Route 402 runs along Kensington Road, and the closest bus stop is a two-minute walk from the main entrance by the corner of Kensington Road and Altona Street.

  • Train

    South Kensington Station is the closest train station - about a six-minute walk through JJ Holland Park - with services on the Werribee and Williamstown lines. 

    Kensington Station is about a 10-minute walk with services on the Craigieburn line. 

    Macaulay Station is about a 16-minute walk with services on the Upfield line.

  • On-street car parking

    The centre does not have a dedicated car park which means that on-street parking, particularly at peak times, can be limited. We recommend you plan your trip in advance, allow extra time to find a park and consider carpooling with a friend or family member. 

    A range of 1P to 4P car parking is available on local streets surrounding the centre, such as Kensington Road, Altona Street and Childers Street. Parking conditions apply – always check the signs when you park. 

    The Altona Street service lane is a no through road – please observe the digital parking sign for parking availability when entering the roundabout.  

    There are no electric car charging stations.

  • Accessible parking

    We have provided dedicated on-street car park bays for vehicles displaying Australian Disability Parking permits on Altona Street, the Altona Street Service Lane and Kensington Road.

    There are two dedicated 2-minute drop-off/pick-up zones. One is located near the main entrance on the Altona Street service lane, and the other is near the members’ entrance on Kensington Road.
